Outer Banks Summer Project is designed for you to have fun with other college students after a long school year before the summer officially starts! Enjoy extensive time in community with students from Ohio State, Bowling Green, University of Cincinnati & Wittenberg who are also seeking to grow and follow Jesus. You will get twelve days in beautiful Outer Banks, NC to soak up the sun, explore the area and develop lasting friendships!
OBX SP provides you the opportunity to grow in your love for God and learn how to live out your faith while in college and beyond. Throughout the project you will participate in trainings over how to read and study your Bible, pray, apply the gospel to your life, and how to share your faith and be equipped to lead others.
OBX SP is designed to send you into the rest of your summer equipped to go serve and lead others spiritually. This could be at home, at a summer job, at an internship or on an overseas mission opportunity. It also will send you into the rest of your life equipped to follow Jesus faithfully and make disciples— in your family, friends, workplace, community, etc.
What are students saying about Summer Project?
“I came to OBX thinking I knew who Jesus was and instead discovered an entirely new relationship with Christ. I learned what depth a friendship can hold when rooted in Christ, and how He has the ability to make you flourish when you truly trust in Him. OBX SP is an amazing experience no matter your faith background and it is unlike anything else you will do in college.”
Maddie Zolovick, The Ohio State University
“To me, it was an amazing way to experience God in different people and in different ways. Being able to grow deeper in faith, to meet new people, and to experience God together during those 12 days was just great. I think it’s amazing how connected people get over that small amount of time, and how we get to see each other grow in our own personal ways...One of my favorite trainings was the testimony workshop, during this workshop I was able to hear different stories about how great and amazing God is, and how He compassionately loves each of us no matter where we’ve been, where we are or where we will be.”
Alphonsine Camara, Bowling Green State University
“Summer Project was a true blessing for me. I have never been around so many people that are truly driven by love, and the joy and peace that brings is unbelievable. I was able to have real conversations with people from UC and other campuses, and I walked away from the Outer Banks with a sense of community that is difficult to find anywhere else. It was also very fruitful spiritually, and getting to hear deep and practical teachings from various CO staff members was a great way to kickstart my summer.”
Jackson Pitz, University of Cincinnati
“I can confidently say OBX Summer Project is a teaser of what heaven is going to be like. There is an endless amount of fun - the beaches are mystifying, the nearby towns are chock full of peak dining, and there are countless opportunities for playing sports, whether in the water or on land. I was a bit nervous going in about making friends, but everyone is so friendly and nonjudgemental! The [Bible studies] and worship sessions are simply amazing; I felt connected to God the entire time and it was so cool to be constantly around people who also put God first in their lives.”
Kevin Pierson, The Ohio State University
“Getting to go to SP was way more than just a summer trip, it was a time where God used the strong community that formed to encourage me and strengthen my faith. From the powerful testimonies shared to late night games, it’s amazing to see God’s plan and purpose shine through it all. Since SP I’ve been able to share my own testimony with confidence thanks to the evening trainings that helped put into words what God has done in my life.”
Corbin Fritch, Bowling Green State University
“I am so thankful for the blessing of wonderful friendships that I grew in. Living and doing life alongside friends, while spending quality time in the Word together, brought us closer, and I am extremely grateful for it. I thoroughly enjoyed our quiet mornings spent with God — getting to witness a house full of students reading the Word and praying is something I will always cherish...Because of OBX SP, I was able to finish my time in college with a heart overflowing with love and gratitude for all He has done and will continue to do.”
Audrey Lee, University of Cincinnati
